The theatre’s 50th year observance will culminate with a special production of Thornton Wilder’s American Classic, OUR TOWN. Endeavoring to capture what ‘our town’ is today, reflecting our city, our country and our lives, this rendition of the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama will be presented in a manner that mirrors the diversity in America today. OUR TOWN transports us to Grover’s Corners, a place of secret wishes and disappointments, loves and losses, where the people we encounter are shockingly like the ones in
our own lives. This is a story that focuses on a village but encompasses the eternal, finding the world in a grain of sand.

“Our production strives to capture what our town is today by reflecting our city and our lives,” said New Stage Artistic Director Francine Thomas Reynolds. “As in the custom with OUR TOWN, traditional props and scenery are replaced by minimalist surroundings that inspire the imagination, while the familiar proscenium usually seen at New Stage Theatre is transformed to enable the audience to see through to more of the stage. We’ve re-imagined our performance space with the hope that allows the audience to truly become part of the experience. We’ve assembled a wonderful cast of local and national talent. OUR TOWN is the perfect play to culminate our 50th year anniversary.”
