The tenth issue of the Thornton Wilder Journal (volume 5, issue 2) is available from Penn State University Press. This issue features The Dreamers, a previously unpublished, unperformed play by a young Wilder, and the first scholarly article on it.
Also included is the third in a series of articles on The Skin of Our Teeth from a historicist approach; this one focuses on Act Two.
In this tenth issue we are excited to inaugurate what we hope will be a new series of “Reconsiderations,” articles in which Wilder scholars reexamine major past pieces of Wilder scholarship. The first reappraisal is of Martin Blank’s Critical Essays on Thornton Wilder, published by G. K. Hall in 1996.
Our performance reviews section includes reviews not only of Our Town (including two on the recent Broadway revival) and The Skin of Our Teeth, but also of the London revival of Hello, Dolly! starring Imelda Staunton in the title role.
